What to do when you don’t feel seen?

What to do when you don’t feel seen?

faith and fitness

I am usually not a big fan of the flexed muscle selfie because, to me, it seems so “look at me!” When I study Jesus, I never see him “flexing” except when he was trying to get the religious leaders to open their eyes to see a new Kingdom was taking place – The Kingdom of God that says the way up is down.

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Matthew 23:12

This picture was taken by one of our Revelation Wellness instructors, Laura, after her class in Pasco, Washington. I love how this flexing selfie gives no credit to the faces. The only one who gets credit is The Creator of all these beautiful forms. Big, small, short, tall, curvy or straight lined…He loves all these strong and beautiful forms and He said “There is no flaw in you.”

This pictures also reminds me of a time when a similar photo was captured of me.( I especially enjoy how it looks like I am carrying a rifle. Appropriate since I have been told, against the kingdom of darkness, I am quite dangerous. 🙂

This photo was taken at at time when I REALLY, DESPERATELY, needed God to do something for me. I really, desperately needed Him to make a breakthrough happen with this ministry. I was believing the lie that I am my success. My orphan spirit was crying out to be loved when love had already come. To be honest…no big breakthrough came. It’s been a slow and steady climb with the Lord. Each day. Day by day. He’s been saving me from myself. My silly broken- little- heart self.

My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.- Song of Solomon 2:14

God loves to hide us in Him. He loves to hide us in the shadow of His wing when all we seem to want to do is to fly and to be seen. Not trusting The Voice of The One who says “It’s not time yet, my love. Be here with me.” Our need to be seen, valued and approved is a waste of good and holy energy. He’s already signed our adoption papers. We have been chosen and His love never fails to take us to the high places where we will worship (to love and serve) Him without work, worry or fret. The places where we live free.

See yourself in these pictures today. You are a humble warrior in the family of Christ. Your are hidden in the cleft of His Rock. He knows the perfect time for all things and you need nothing more than Him forever and always.

Why do you desire to be seen, known and loved?

What did Jesus do for you that makes that desire complete?

  1. I think we all have a desire to be seen, to be known and to be loved. It was how we were created! The problem for me is that I so often forget that God sent His son Jesus to die for me and my sins, so that I could be FREE here on earth and live in eternity with Him! So, I am ALREADY loved, ALREADY known and ALREADY seen. I don’t need approval from anyone else – not my husband, kids, friends, people in our church, etc.! I’m praying that I will remember this truth and will stop seeking acceptance and recognition from other people. 🙂

  2. Just found your website and blog today. I’m really encouraged by your mission and your determination. Thank you for sharing from your heart. On this particular post, amen and amen!
    Blessings!
