"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9-Christian Fitness-Faith Based- Revelation Wellness

This is how I know that God is real.

If someone would of told me 15 years ago that I would be teaching faith based fitness & wellness in Christ...I would of laughed in their face. In fact...that is exactly what I did 15 years ago.

As a baby believer I was trying to figure out what the heck fitness had to do with my new found affection for Christ. I kept hearing my pastor say "God created you for a purpose that fits you perfectly." I knew what i loved, and what came easy. That was fitness. Helping people improve their quality of lives through the vehicle of sound movement. But what you couldn't get me to get it back then. Not even my pastor at that time made the connection. As far as I was concerned, I did fitness during the week and met with Jesus on the weekend. They were separate and far apart.

I had one good new friend in Christ named Melinda. One day when I was rolling this "What's my purpose?" questions around with her she said to me "Well you know they do have Christian aerobics." (Yes...aerobics...I am dating myself. We now call it something much cooler like cardio or fitness.) When she said that to me, I laughed. Instantly my mind conjured up pictures of toe tapping while wearing turtlenecks. I laughed and told her "No way! I will never do that! Lame!"

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9

The Lord was determined that I would be His.

The Lord was determined to give me a heart and a mind like His.

The Lord was determined to give me a new thing that I could not see.

I stumbled upon this quote the other day and it has turned my world upside down. "Light yourself on fire with passion and others will come from miles to watch you burn."

Nothing could fee more true to me than that statement.

I have endured the laughter, the scoffing, the quick looks that turn away when they read "Jesus is my personal trainer" on my shirt, the lost friends, the "she's lost her mind" gossip, and then many many tears and raising my voice to God asking Him why he has ruined me with such a call. Why couldn't he have given me an easier message to share? One that is more acceptable, understandable and relatable to the masses.

And His voice assures me that he has not chosen me for the easy road. He has chosen me for the road that others will travel down to watch me burn.

I was made for such a time as this.

Yes....this is how I know there is a God. I would of never of chosen this road for myself. It chose me.

Be His.

WL2FM- A Testimony

Growing up in a single parent family wasn’t easy for Nickole. She was constantly doing whatever she could to earn the approval of others for fear of further rejection.  There were many learned behaviors that needed to be ‘unlearned’ as she entered into adulthood.

Fear of rejection. Fear of not being enough. Fear of having to please people no matter what the cost. Pride.  A sense of independence that was unhealthy.  These things plagued her and she entered into a marriage carrying these terrible things with her, like a backpack full of heavy stones.

It wasn’t until the birth of her second child that Nickole really began to seek wholeness in Christ. She sought out the right people, found community and a place to escape and was finally able to give her entire heart to the Lord---cracked, bleeding, and bruised,  Nickole recognized the true redemption of God for the first time in her life. She recognized that God loves her…doesn’t desire for her to remain broken…and He has given her what she needs to begin   the healing process of brokenness in her life.

This journey led her to a woman named Alisa. Alisa is a passionate woman who loves God, her family, and the calling in her life to ‘move God’s people.’  Alisa began an organization called Revelation Wellness that seeks to journey with people who are pursuing wholeness in Christ and long to be free from the bondage that food, apathy, and emotional, spiritual, and physical brokenness can hold.  Nickole found out about Revelation Wellness from a dear friend and through a series of events, eventually went through a program called, “Weigh Less to Feed More.”  This leg of her journey offered her hope…vision….insight…and the opportunity to look at herself from a different perspective.  Her desire wasn’t to be sexy or fit for anyone…her goal was to take the vessel that God has given to her and make it shine for Him. This came at a cost, however, and the 8-week program kicked her tail.

From fasting to ridding herself of refined sugars and chocolate covered espresso bean (her absolute favorite), Nickole began to see the patterns in her life that were taking over.  She had never really fed herself for the pure focus of fueling her body---she did it to fill a void in her life when she was sad, depressed, bored, dry, and thirsty.  Instead of going to the Lord for satisfaction, she went to food. And the food she chose was full of non-nutritional products…nothing that would sustain her or give her the energy that she really needed.  Thankfully, the program brought vision…and most importantly, drew her back to her Father. The program, and Alisa’s mentorship, offered her a great deal of understanding of idolatry, sin, shame, fear, strongholds, and prompted her to go to the Lord with these very struggles.  She found yoga….found herself sitting quietly and often lying in ‘child’s pose.’  She found freedom from the scale (although very difficult at first) and found a greater understanding of her body, how it should be seen, and what her body can do when fueled properly.

She also saw that she can finish something that she started.  She saw that her goals could be met when she put her mind and heart and soul into it and she learned that God has not abandoned her, is continuing to redefine truth for her, and that it is OKAY to shrug or better yet, THROW off any garments that have been placed or forced on her that do not reflect the Lord and His will.

She is reminded of the story of the little girl who died….and Jesus’ command to her to rise. “Talitha Cumi”….little girl, get up….little girl, get up…these are the continued words of the Father. Get up, little girl, and see what I have in store for you.  She recognized that she doesn’t have to over perform to gain God’s love…and only needs to keep the posture of her heart in adoration of Him…and when He looks at her and hears her….her voice is sweet and her face is lovely to Him.

She is anxious to see what God has in store for her as she takes the next leg of this journey. She is excited to see God’s continued work as she meets more with Him one-on-one and as she continues to pursue wholeness in Him.  She is so thankful for the ministry of Revelation Wellness and Alisa Keeton, who have been pure instruments in this rehabilitative process, constantly pointing her to Jesus and teaching her many life skills that she had not been taught. What an amazing God we serve and what an amazing vision He has for His people~

The top two reasons that people either never start exercising, or quit just as soon as they start, is because they are bored or claim they don't have the time. What if getting fit and/or weight loss was really not about the food, the exercise, the sexy abs, or even those badgering pounds themselves that over 67% of Americans need to lose? What if in the end, it is really about so much more?

Are you ready to disturb the status quo? Take a look at this short informational video. Listen to what others have to say about this amazing opportunity that we believe God is placing before you.

Warning....only people who are wanting a free and full life need apply!

God the Father

Last night, I attended a bible study with Alisa Keeton and the topic was," God the Father".

In Romans 8:14 it says, "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God." God is our Father . He loves us without judgement and all He wants is for us to love Him back. The most profound thing that I never thought of is, someone loves me so much that no matter what I have done, what I look like or how far I stray, He still loves me and He's going to keep "pursuing" me so that I will love Him back just as much.

We know that God wants us to love Him with all of our minds, body and soul, but I discovered last night how much He really means all of it. Not just your minds, not just your body, not just your soul but with everything that you have within you. That's why God keeps pursuing us and keeps going for us, no matter what. He wants all of it!

I love how Jesus speaks in parables because at first you may think He's talking about one thing. You have in your mind, ok, the seed has been planted and now all I have to do is give God the glory, read my bible and keep the faith. Screech!! the brakes was put on me last night. God is pursuing everything that I am. In order for Him to have everything, I have to hop on that tiller. I have to grab that hoe, I have to not just walk the field, but bend down soemtimes get wet and dirty and move some things around in order for the seed to get nourishment so it can grow and not just grow but be fruitful also. And since God is pursuing me, he wants me to have the desires of my heart. He wants me to have a plentiful harvest and I need to know that He has my back, He's my dad. He will give me everything that I need as long as I give Him everything that I've got.

In instructor's training, we study anatomy and one of the most fascinating things that I learned was about this substance that the muscle makes called "fascia". It grows between the muscle like fuzz. The interesting thing about it is, when it starts to form, all you need to do is stretch your body around. By doing that you are giving your body a little massage and the fascia evaporates. The downside to it is that when we do no movement, the muscle doesn't get it's massage and the fascia will continue to grow. When it grows, it basically mobilize the muscle, give it a choke hold, prevents it from moving.

This is why I love what I do, why I love moving and being healthy and whole in Christ because it's a parable! Matthew 9:32 says " the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few". We are the seed that God has planted and He has so much to give us but we have to desire God with everything that we have so we can tend to the harvest that He has waiting for us. We just can't give Him part of us, we need to give Him the whole thing, we need to do all the work that He requires of us. We have to give some movement. If we stay still without doing some work and let our field get overgrown with weeds and if we let it dry out and die, it's the same thing as letting the fascia take over our muscles. Our muscles are the reason why we can move. Don't sit, don't be afraid to move towards Him and get your blessing. God isn't going to come to you because He's already there. He's already inside of you, holding you in His arms, loving you, the seed has been planted. You have to move towards Him, and when you do that, when He sees that you are trying with everything you have, He will give you rest when you need to rest. He will give you strength when you need it, He will protect you when someone or something tries to steal it.

Let God pursue you. Let your Father plant gifts of blessing in spaces where you would have never thought one could be. Remember, the only way to find those hidden treasures is to get up, bend down, stretch, and with His strength and the strength that your Father has given you, no amount of fascia could keep you from His glory and His grace.

Life is Like a Golf Ball

Truth
James 1:2-3 Whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow (NLT).

When golf balls were first manufactured, their covers were smooth. Golfers soon discovered that after the balls had been roughed up a bit, they were able to get more distance out of them.  Manufacturers then began producing golf balls with dimpled covers.

Life is a lot like that. It takes some rough spots to make us go our farthest. It takes some storms to teach us that God is faithful and will provide the strength to stand firm.

The Apostle Paul knew all about storms. As a fully devoted follower of Christ, Paul was despised, slandered, mistreated, abused and poor. He had every right  by the world's standards to be angry and distressed but instead chose joy. “We own nothing, and yet we have everything” (2 Corinthians 6:8-10 NLT).

Because joy is a deeply-rooted confidence that God is in control, it only stands to reason that the highest joy will come through the greatest pain. The greater the pain, the more we are forced to search for and cling to the hand of God. But that only happens when we choose the right attitude toward pain.

James 1:2-3 Whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy.  For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  (NLT)

When was the last time you threw a party to celebrate the trials and storms in life? God’s ways are higher than our ways and most human reactions are in direct opposition to the paradoxical ways of God. Honestly, there are times when what He has asked me to do simply does not make sense – to me. And there we find the problem. Faith is a matter of blind obedience, not human logic.

At the heart of every storm is victory – waiting to be claimed. The words of James offer the perfect backdrop for every life storm.

Prayer
Father, I come to You, asking for the strength to withstand the storm in my life. Forgive me for giving in to the fear and doubt instead of turning to you in faith. I now turn to You, Lord. I choose to lean on You. Show me the way.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

In His Love,

Embrace the Weird

What at radical shift my life would of made if at a young age I would of realized that weird is normal. I know I am talking to the little girls out there who spent many mornings trying to make their hair do what they wanted it to do and changed outfits at east five times before deciding on the one that would hopefully draw the most compliments for the day, with the least amount of attention.

We spend too much of our life in the shadows. Wanting to be noticed, but not too much. We live shrouded in the lie that we are too little or too much. No wonder the scale has been allowed to have it's way with us over and over again. Enough is enough, you are enough!

It's weird that God came in the form of a baby. It's weird that Jesus was born in a manger. It's weird that Jesus spit in mud and rubbed it on a blind man's eyes so he could see. It's werid that Jesus told his disciples that they would eat his flesh and drink his blood (Really...why not tell them it was a metaphor for remembering him as God in flesh and blood?) It's weird that I believe in a God who came in flesh and blood, died on a cross, whose body was never found, he asceded to heaven and is now ruling and reigning over all life for all time. It's simply weird. And more than that it is beautiful. Weird is my new normal.

Something has got to give. It's time for a full radical embrace of who you are, the person that Jesus died for, so you could become. Otherwise, what's the point? Was it not for freedom that Christ has set us free? If this is not true for me, then the cross is just a sparkly trinket I wear around my neck. The cross is reduced to another shiny object that the world does not need. The world needs light. And you and I are the lamps. His lamps are all unique; beautiful and weird.

So today, wear the clothes that say "I am here!”. Sing a song off key, and sing it loud. Dance with no mirrors.  And your hair....it never looks better than when it plays the supporting role to a big bright smile.

Watch out world...here comes weird!

The Missing Component

I love what I do, being a Revelation Wellness Fitness Instructor but something was missing. Where was my confidence, get up and go and the desperate need to press in to all of the training and teachings that I have been so blessed to experience?

A few weeks ago, I returned from my third instructor training retreat. This one was like no other. It was packed with what I expected, trainings in wellness, fitness, bible studies and prayers. But this time was different. The missing component was revealed to me, Life Coaching.  Revelation Wellness was so blessed to have the expertise of Coach Jess with us on retreat.  She is the founder and owner of Ignite Life Coaching.

62636_649627015384_29300602_33139087_761064503_n

Just to make this short and sweet, Coach Jess says this on her website, "Life Coaching can take you above and beyond your personal limitations and open up new perspectives. More often than not, people try to achieve their greatest potential, but don’t even realize what stands in their way."

BOOM! My missing component. She made me realize what was standing in my way, what I was holding on to and needed to let go of. A new sun shined on me today, a new out look and confidence cleared the fog in my mind. I didn't know that I needed that, but thanks to Alisa Keeton and Revelation Wellness Teacher Training Program, I got it!

Don't miss another moment wondering if you should be a Revelation Wellness Fitness Instructor. You will received training that is state of the art, like no other. You will connect to Christ in ways you couldn't have imagine and with Coach Jess guidance, you will find that Missing Component".
