You Are God’s Good Idea

You Are God’s Good Idea

Raise your hand if you are a woman or man who doesn’t see their body shape, color, or size represented in magazine pages.

I want you to know that I see you. I want you to know that you matter to me more than you will ever know. The reality of God’s love for you and the gift of freedom He longs to give you stir my heart every night and wake me up with a purpose every morning. God’s love for you and His love for me holds the perfect beat in my heart, keeping me dancing (or drumming) on, moving forward to take back what the enemy stole from us when we believed his lies based on the false suspicion that God is not good.

God is good.

You are God’s good idea.

The story your body holds is one for the record books. It is of the utmost importance that you know this truth– the enemy fears you and the power of your story–the story of how you were once a slave to fear, but now are a child of God. What God has called good nobody can call bad. Nobody.

You are seen with joy in this space. We are fighting for you through the power of God’s love and truth that sets you free. Take full ownership of being what your DNA given to you by God tells you to be. In eternity past, God desired the day that you would have life and take form.

This is God’s world. We add color, depth, dimension, and beauty to it. The color of your skin and the way it rolls when you twist and turn making it possible for you to grow, expand, bend low and reach high, is all part of God’s good design. Everything about you has been designed beautifully by God. Your hopes. Your dreams. All the unusual characteristics that make you, you. And your body is no exception.

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.” -Matthew 5:14, The Message

We at Revelation Wellness are committed to contending for you– that you would lift your head and widen your heart. That you would carry the knowledge that God saw “fit” to give you the body that you’ve got— a body that carries the story of who you are, what you’ve come through and what you’re living for.

The month of June marks our annual Bold In The Soul social media campaign. All month our social media feed will feature men and women who are sharing their stories of identity– of who they are in spite of what others might see. What’s the point, you ask? The point is this: how will the world learn to read a good book or hear a good story when they are too busy judging books by their covers? This month we will renew our minds by featuring men and women who are boldly owning their stories as sons and daughters of God. These are people who are fighting the good fight of faith, some even bold enough to expose their own battle scars. These are the marks of real-life– marks that a world of airbrushing and filters doesn’t want or welcome, at least not yet.

“From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.” – Galatians 6:17

You are welcome here. All of you is welcome here. Always, and in all ways. Your beauty, your strength, and your flaws are all being put to good use on the earth for God’s good and gracious name. Our weaknesses are the bullseye for the Kingdom of heaven to come so God’s will can be done.

Instead of letting social media tell you who is beautiful and who is not, turn a curse into a blessing and let your God light shine. No pretense. No facade. Be you. Be real. Let your critics with darkened minds fall away and find yourself free. Then look to your left and look to your right. You will find one of us standing up for you and running next to you, cheering you on as you go.

Go, man, GO! Go, woman, GO! We see you! Just because you don’t see yourself represented in the images our culture obsesses over, don’t believe the lie that you don’t count.

I believe that things are about to change and that we– the sons and daughters of God–are the ones with the power and authority to initiate change and keep the fire burning on God’s altar. Our daily sacrifices of releasing fear, shame, and guilt will be more than enough to keep the torch of change lit so the next generation can take it and run their race.

Be bold in the soul. Be kind to yourself. Be courageous. Keep your eyes and your heart open to look for the best inside of you, all around you, and in others. It’s who you are!

Heaven is near.

You are God’s good, good idea.
