Marathon Running For God

I am writing this with a smile, and if you listen to this podcast, you’ll probably be able to tell that I was smiling and talking simultaneously while recording. You know how some people throw water on your fire while others throw gasoline? Well, friends, today is a bonfire kind of day. You are about to meet a woman who is a tanker truck full of high-octane fuel. So get ready. Place some kindling on the flame of your heart and prepare to combust!

Now, before I tell you who this fire-starter is, can I ask you a question?

Has God wrecked you with His love? Have you fallen so far into the depths of who He is that you can’t touch the bottom?

You know you are living a gospel life when you say yes to God as He calls you to do something even though you don’t have a clue how it will all go down. Gospel living is very much like running a marathon. You can train, plan, eat well, give all of your blood, sweat, and tears, and still feel like throwing up when the gun goes off. The unknown of standing on holy ground has a way of keeping us desperate for God, and perhaps even give us diarrhea. Now that friends, is what we call a powerful place to be! Whatever your delightfully impossible call may be, you can bet that God is going to meet you every step of the way.

On that note, I eagerly want you to meet one of my most favorite people. Her name is Jessi Connolly, and she is an ordinary woman who has been wrecked by the extraordinary love of Jesus. Some of you know her as the woman behind Naptime Diaries (now Amen Paper Company) and the co-founder of The Influence Network.

Jessi just finished her very first marathon. For Jessi, this marathon was her way of going long with the Lord. You may be surprised to find that things didn’t go the way she had hoped, and when you find out why, I have a feeling that you are all going to relate. Her story is one of stolen worship and what happens when we find ourselves locked into the swirling madness that can go on in our minds.

I also want you to know about her book Wild and Free. Trust me and the hundreds of other Revelation Wellness® Instructors who have read this anthem book when we say that you will want to pick up a copy of this book for yourself right after you hear this podcast. I mean, you know how we feel about freedom around here. It’s totally our battle cry! So whether you have battled the lie that you are too much or not enough, Jessi’s book will rock you out of your chains and break you free from that worldly mold.

Taking this starting assessment is a powerful first step on your journey toward growth and transformation. Think of it as a pin on a map—it shows you where you are right now in mind, body, and spirit. This tool is about awareness, not judgment. It doesn’t define you or your worth; it’s simply a way to understand your starting point so you can create a purposeful plan for where you want to go. Remember, you are a good body, beautifully made by God, exactly as you are today. This is about building on that foundation with love and intention.
