3 tips to help you get the most out of “The Wellness Revelation

The Wellness Revelation is designed to help you renew the whole person, from the inside out. We tackle the issues that matter most as you make complete and lasting lifestyle changes. This is going to require you to SHOW UP, BE REAL and DO THE WORK. Habits that don’t support us in living a healthy and wholehearted life are like stacked sandbags blocking the flow of a river that is meant to reach the thirsty ground of our hearts.

These three tips will help you get the most out of your “Wellness Revelation” study and transform from the inside out!

“Here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life- and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” Romans 12:1, The Message

1. SHOW UP

By showing up and being completely themselves, wholehearted people foster peace, joy, and growth in those around them because these qualities flow from within them.

2 Timothy 1:5-8 Gives us insight into how God made us and what He’s given us in order for us to ‘show up’ to live wholeheartedly. These God-given attributes can help change the way we care for our health. Paul uses the Greek word that means ‘calling to soundness of mind’; also meaning ‘to restore one’s senses. You’ve likely heard it before ‘just show up’, friends might we suggest that we get to show up in sobriety, not numbing or dumbing down but fully aware and awake to the Way and the work.

Question: In what areas of life do you most long for soundness of mind?

2. BE REAL

God wants you holy and whole, which requires you to be mindful and wholehearted as you find your sufficiency in Christ. Now is the time to let the Scriptures search us, know us, and change us. It’s time we burn great amounts of spiritual calories because in Scripture whenever something is sacrificed or sanctified, fire is always involved. Before we make it our business to point out the specks in other people’s eyes, we need to deal with the plans on our own.

Question: What does the statement “Jesus is my personal trainer” mean to you?

3. DO THE WORK

There is no way around the universal law of reaping what you sow. In each session of the Wellness Revelation, your spiritual and physical training will build upon the foundation you laid in previous weeks. One of the principals we provide is the 4 S’s.  We are never who we were and because this is true, His unchanging consistency has the ability to transform us.

Here are the 4 S’s of feeding your spirit, soul, and body:

SLOW-  Practice taking a moment to breathe and give thanks to God for what you are about to eat. Thank Him for making good on His promises to give you all you need so that you do not have to worry (see Matthew 6:31-33).

SUFFICIENTMake it a habit to eat from a real plate. The act of ‘plating’ a meal (even if it’s just a sandwich and some veggie sticks) is an act of honoring God – the One who gives you food – as well as yourself as you take time to sit down, rest, refresh and refuel.

SATISFIED-  You may need to ask the Lord to awaken your sense of hunger and fullness. If you have used food over the years to feed the slightest pangs of hunger, your brain may have lost its ability to tell you when you are full. As you slow down while eating, invite your good Father to tell you when you have had enough.

STEADY- Eating more steadily throughout the day is like throwing a log on a fire that you want to burn continually. By consistently feeding the fire of your metabolism with good and steady fuel, you will cleanse your body, soul, and mind from the gunk and leftover buildup that come from ravenous bingeing. Ask God to gently but firmly help you increase your desire to eat a little more steadily throughout the day.

Question: What do you think it means to honor God with our bodies?

“Whenever you find yourself returning to your old comfortable ways, take a moment to catch your hearth and get back in step with the Spirit”. – Alisa Keeton

Borrow this prayer for wholehearted living:

Dear Jesus,

I know that You came to earth to restore my health and well-being and to make it possible for me to be firmly rooted in You. Thank you that You have never wavered in Your desire to rescue my drowning heart, to heal my broken heart, and to restore and set me free with a whole heart. I believe that You are able to do all that You have promised. Thank You for Your gift of grace, which is stronger than anyone else’s strength. Thank you for never giving up on me, Your rebellious child, and for being my strength. To honor You, I lay myself at Your feet, knowing that through the power of grace I will get back on my feet whenever anything knocks me down. Amen.

The life-breath of The Wellness Revelation is the ‘exercise’ of our faith. Weight loss and health gains can often feel like selfish endeavors, and sometimes they are entirely self-focused and self-driven. When we successfully reach our goals, we are tempted to take all the glory; when we fail to get what we want, we assume all the shame. As you cast your cares on the Lord (Psalm 55:22) and transform into a new being in Christ, your heart will be freed to help others in need.

Taking this starting assessment is a powerful first step on your journey toward growth and transformation. Think of it as a pin on a map—it shows you where you are right now in mind, body, and spirit. This tool is about awareness, not judgment. It doesn’t define you or your worth; it’s simply a way to understand your starting point so you can create a purposeful plan for where you want to go. Remember, you are a good body, beautifully made by God, exactly as you are today. This is about building on that foundation with love and intention.
