Don’t Shrink Back- Get Loud!

Don’t Shrink Back- Get Loud!

let's get loud

“The moment they began their shouts and praises, the Lord set an ambush against the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir who came to fight against Judah, and they were defeated.” 2 Chronicles 20:22, CSB

Toward the end of 2019, God told me to get louder. But loud scares me. Loud reminds me of a chaotic dysfunctional childhood. My former response to loud, chaos, and commotion was to shrink back and get quiet; I never would have wanted to add to the noise.

In my call to get louder, I feel as if God is saying to me,  “I need you to be louder with your life. Your life is in My hands. Every time you move and do what I’ve asked you to, the whispers I’ve spoken over you become amplified and others will hear me.”

In a noisy world, it’s easy to either compete and get louder or go the opposite direction and get quiet, back down, and shrink. But what if you could be loud without competing? Right now, in the midst of loud fear and uncertainty, He still invites me to get loud in my passionate love for Him and who He created me to be. He has restored my passion in more ways than I can imagine.

The word passion means basically “to be affected”, and passion is the essential energy of the soul. The recovery of passion begins with the recovery of my true self as the beloved. If I find Christ, I will find myself, and if I find my true self, I will find Him. This is the goal and purpose of our lives. If the disciple John were to be asked ‘what is your primary identity, your most coherent sense of yourself?’ he would not reply ‘I am a disciple, an apostle, an evangelist,’ but ‘I am the one Jesus loves. (Brennan Manning, Abba’s Child: The Recovery of Passion)

One of my passions is dancing and moving my body. It is through movement that I can best connect with God and worship. This is also how people see Jesus in me.

I used to disregard the confirmations to move. Like the man on the mat in Luke 5. I would ready myself and just before I got up someone went in front of me. And so I sat like him for 37 years. I found myself on the mat. Jesus found me on the mat. Just before turning 40, God asked me if I wanted to be well. So, for six months I found myself under the care of doctors and God. I’ve had to unlearn debilitating default mindsets and re-learn how to move to a new rhythm, a rhythm of grace. He has made me well by teaching me my true identity in Christ clothed in mercy, kindness, freedom, and His love. He has clothed me with the head to toe ‘outfit’ complete with the best shoes (Ephesians 6).

Even in the midst of the pandemic, 2020 has been a year of redemption and crazy unfiltered freedom. Every day, God is showing me that when I show up I am confetti in His hands. He invites me to follow Him and be loud in my unique design. While I may be too much for some people and potentially a mess to clean up, there are others who find joy when I’m moving in my wild freedom. Then they become confetti cannons of their own God-given design. (Cue the confetti cannons)

The music that moves me is the songs that tell my story. My current anthem is called “LOVE” by We Are Messengers. The rhythm is gonna catch you, but the lyrics will move you.

Don’t hang your head when you get lonely

No, I’ll never leave your side

And don’t go thinking you’re the only

One that can’t get it right

Yeah you’ve got my love love love love

Down in your soul

Yeah you’ve got my love love love love

And I won’t let you go

Your Mercy is new every morning

Your Grace sustains all of my life

You are the One that I run to

In you I am satisfied

“Friend, God began a good work in you. And I am sure that he will carry it on until it is completed.” Philippians 1:6.

Keep movin’.

  13. God is so kinD. He has been calling me to “pray” for a long time. When i started my bUsiness last uear and was seeking him for direction i thought, surely he is going to Tell me to build my email list. After all, That is what all the Top influencer podcasts Say. But i got one word from god, “pray”. So, it tool me 6+ months and my life turning into shambles to rose up to the call. And at the beginning of 2020 i set my alarm and Would wake up hoirs before my family and day did to meet with God and build my prayer journal. Needless to say i have uncovered countless Treasures and even breakthrougHs. When the pandEmic reached us, i was so surrounded with god’s peace and reassuranCe that even when my husband and i both Lost our jobs on the same day, i knew wIth absolutelY zero doubt that god had so mich good for us in tHis. His words for our family for this year were “Jubilee” and “thrive” and god has showed out for us during this worldwiDe pandemic. God is so so good! The best part of itbhas been The Sweet moment i get with him as i continue to wake esrly and excitedly meet with him. I Felt prompted to shAre my faith and did so via live ig on m/w/f mornings. Your ministry has been instrumental in equipting my heart for tHis. Thank you!!! You can see if youd like @rightyourstroyinc

  14. Such a good word! Thank you for sharing your heart, Amia. God has shown me many things in this season, but one is that I don’t need much And two, to let go of my insecurities with sharing his word. Not everyone will want to hear it, but everyone needs it.

  15. Thank you for these words. Just yesterday, God remindede what a weapon my dance is. I am not sure why I hesitant. This encourages me to move forward and try again. It is so important and is such warfare. Thank you

  16. I Too aM on the mat, Amia. Can You Share more about your 6 month journey that brought you to A place of Movement? I am 50 and still on the mat.

  17. Wow, Amia. Thank you so much for your wonderful way of explaining this! I too have shrunk myself to fit in and hopefully be liked. the covid shelter at home experience has given me more time to REFLECT on this and i believe that god has been calling me once again (I’ve gotten this message before from the spirit, but it is difficult to sustain the courage hold that strength to speak) to trust that He has me covered and I can use my gifts to be free and put myself out there more boldly. Thank you for the inspiration.
    Blessings, Anne Marie
