Walking Worthy: Pressing into hard places

Walking Worthy: Pressing into hard places

A crown symbolizes the authority of the sovereign who wears it. The sovereign unilaterally acts on his authority to accomplish the desires of his will through the use of His power. Our Sovereign King Jesus is no different. He has all the authority given to him by the Father, and all power through the Holy Spirit to back it up.

In His great kindness, the Father has included us. He has given us an inheritance in the kingdom not just of forgiveness, but of righteousness and holiness. He shares both His authority and power with us and makes us part of His body. As heirs to the crown it is imperative that we walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.” (1 Thessalonians 2:12 NASB).

A prince walks in submission to the king. He also walks in the authority derived from the king. A princess receives her identity from the king as his daughter. From that place, they go out to act on behalf of the king. They do this not to find an identity–they already have one– but to share what has been given by the king.

To do this we must embrace all of the aspects of our inheritance: righteousness, justice, authority, and holiness, just to name a few. We also need the power of His grace to live them out. We cannot walk as heirs only knowing and living in a portion of His grace. We must know it all.

This requires us to take on the difficult, uncomfortable things of our faith. Learning how to seek holiness without legalism. Stepping into authority knowing it will bring conflict with darkness. Speaking hard truth in love without condemnation.

Those things and things like them challenge and stretch us. They increase our dependence on the Father, are crucial for our development, and are part of fulfilling the calling on our lives.

Our King’s throne is founded on righteousness and justice (Psalm 89:14). If we are to reign with Him we must stand on the same foundation.

What does it look like for you to embrace your identity, inheritance, and authority as a son or daughter of the King? How is God inviting you to reign with Him today?
