This quarter, we’re fixing our eyes on Jesus, who is better than anything the world could offer.
Key Points
The healthy and whole rhythms of our life reflect the truth that Jesus is better.
Through intuitive eating, we learn to trust our God-given hunger and fullness cues and see our bodies as God sees them.
Your body is good. Food is good. And, learning to trust yourself with good things is exactly what God wants for you.
Through physical fasting, we practice denying our flesh of the things that are opposed to God’s truth.
We are willing to forfeit the temporary pleasures of our flesh in exchange for God’s eternal purposes that get fulfilled through the power of His Holy Spirit.
Jesus is better than comfort, victory, security, money, EVERYTHING.
We can practice fixing our eyes on Jesus using spiritual disciplines like fasting.
When we are faced with temptation or comparison, we turn our eyes to Jesus.
Scripture
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. (Hebrews 1:3-4)
For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. (Psalm 107:9)
In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)
But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. (Hebrews 8:6)
Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see – how good God is. Blessed are you who run to Him. (Psalm 34:8 MSG)
