DAY 3
WID (Work-IN of the Day)
A WARRIOR REMEMBERS WHO THE BATTLE BELONGS TO
“This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.’”
2 Chronicles 20:15
Way to persevere, mighty one of valor! You are doing good work and to that I say, well done!
Today I want to remind you that the battle you were born for does not ultimately depend on you. It’s not about your strength, your power, your ability, or commitment. You will get tired, you will fail, you will have setbacks, and you will feel defeated. That’s what it is to be a limited human being, susceptible to wounds received on the battlefield. This battle is so much bigger than you, so look to the one who the battle belongs to.
Jesus Christ has already won the war! Our King, the ultimate warrior, the one on the white horse who is called “Faithful and True” (Rev 19:11), by His power and finished work on the cross broke the enemy’s power and triumphed over sin and death. In His mighty strength, He defeated the kingdom of darkness and secured our victory (Col 2:15). At this point, the enemy is only using delaying tactics to hold off the inevitable. While he is still active and we need to be aware of and resist his schemes, make no mistake. He has lost!
Take yourself off the hook. The enemy would love nothing more than to convince you that you’re the one that victory depends upon. He knows that the weight of it all will crush you. To take that responsibility upon your shoulders will only enslave you to your ego when things are going well and trap you in shame and guilt when the battle seems to be lost.
Warrior, your Commander has invited you to participate in this mission with Him, not because He needs you, but because He wants you. He wants you to be on mission along with Him. He wants a relationship with you, to partner in love. He wants to shape you and grow you in the midst of the battle. He wants to develop in you the capacity to carry the good things He for you as your reward for persevering in the fight and trusting Him for the outcome.
He wants you to participate with Him in the struggle, for His glory and for your good, to get you free and keep you free so you can set others free!
So fight the good fight. Press in.
When things look hopeless, when you’re at the end of yourself and feel like the battle is lost, look to Him! Fix your eyes upon the One who has already overcome.
You’ve got this because He’s got you and the battle belongs to Him!
