What IS Bold In The Soul?

What IS Bold In The Soul?

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them,
but the godly are as bold as lions. Prov. 28:1

What does it mean to be BOLD IN THE SOUL? Why are the righteous described as BOLD as a lion?

Courage flows from right-standing with God. Fear oftentimes robs us of courage and keeps us paralyzed.  God-given boldness  flows out of our relationship with Him. We are bold, not because of who we are, but because of who HE is. It is boldness born out of the freedom that comes as a son or daughter of God. 1 John 4:17-18 says: “This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence (boldness!) on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

As we go deeper into boldness this month, here is an acronym to help you remember the source of your own BOLD soul! (I really love acronyms!)

BBe fully YOURSELF

God made you YOU because He loves who you are. Boldness naturally comes as we learn to enjoy who we are and be fully ourselves. #originaldesign

O Opportunity in the Ordinary

Most of the time we think of BOLD living as big, life-changing actions. But boldness begins in faithfulness in our ordinary days, living in obedience. Get bold in your ordinary daily life!

LLove others, because He first loved us.

Living as those who are loved by God, we boldly love others. We don’t have to fake it. He loves us; we love others.

DDon’t compare.

Comparison robs our boldness and freedom to boldly obey God! Eleanor Roosevelt is famous for her quote “Comparison is the thief of joy.” We can also add that comparison is the thief of boldness. If we are looking at someone else, whether in longing or criticism, we will not walk boldly in our own selves.

The invitation to becoming BOLD IN THE SOUL is the invitation to knowing the love of God and learning to live as His beloved.
Bold to approach Him. Bold to love others. Bold to be fully ourselves. This is BOLD IN THE SOUL.

On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul. Psalm 138:3
