Shannon's Teaching: Creating a Vision & Mission Statement for Your Life

In this teaching, Shannon shares the benefits of writing a vision and mission statement for your life. She also teaches you to write your own vision/mission statement using Revelation Wellness’ as a template.

Discussion Questions

Take 20-30 minutes for the group to write the first draft of their vision/mission statement.

Have fun! You can continue to rewrite and refine your statements as you pay more attention to how He works through you in all you do!

1. Invite the group to share their vision/mission statements with one another.

– If you’re in a large group, divide into smaller groups. This can also be done in pairs.

– Allow time for feedback, insight, questions, or encouragement in response to the shared vision/mission statements.

2. How does your vision statement reflect your life right now?

3. In what ways does your vision statement aspire you to grow?

4. How might your vision/mission statement cause you to depend more on God?

Be Still & Be Loved: The One in Whom He Delights (Zephaniah 3:17)

The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

– Zephaniah 3:17, ESV

After a generous discussion time, meditate on God’s word as a group using this Revelation Wellness Podcast episode.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you process your group discussion, to rejoice over any inspiration you received for your vision/mission statement, to give a word of encouragement to anyone in your group, and to give you the grace to live into your vision statement.

Prayer Prompts

Consider ending your time by praying about these topics:

– Pray for God to help you recognize who can partner with you in your mission.

– Ask the Holy Spirit to help you refine your vision and mission statement.

– Thank God for any inspiration He’s given you today.

– Recognize and confess any feelings of comparison or disappointment you may feel toward your vision/mission statement.

– If you’re not in a Christian community already, ask God for help finding a local church community to run on mission with – for support, friendship, discipleship, encouragement, accountability, and spiritual growth.

– If you are part of a Christian community, ask God to deepen the bonds of unity between your church family.

– Rejoice that your life is purposeful because you serve the LORD!

Taking this starting assessment is a powerful first step on your journey toward growth and transformation. Think of it as a pin on a map—it shows you where you are right now in mind, body, and spirit. This tool is about awareness, not judgment. It doesn’t define you or your worth; it’s simply a way to understand your starting point so you can create a purposeful plan for where you want to go. Remember, you are a good body, beautifully made by God, exactly as you are today. This is about building on that foundation with love and intention.
