Train Your Body & Regenerate Your Brain

The Revelation Wellness Couch to 5K program is a 10-week training plan filled with practical information. You’ll learn how to support and train your physical body to run well while receiving greater inspiration for your spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being.

When our bodies move our brains are best able to make new grooves. These new grooves are what’s known in neuroscience as neuroplasticity – a process that allows the neurons (nerve cells) in the brain to compensate for injury and disease and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment.

Imagine training your body to move towards the goal of completing a 5K with an even greater goal of regenerating your brain! You’ll create new pathways and renew your mind with new thoughts and ideas of who you are in relationship to God who loves you. 

Each day you train, whether walking, jogging, or resting, you’ll be coached on how to live well in your body, encourage your heart, and renew your mind. All of the 5K coaching you receive will train the whole you- body, mind, and spirit. You’ll become more of the person you were created to be. Now that’s a goal!

Don’t have a race in your area? Then join Revelation Wellness instructors and participants around the world twice a year for a virtual 5K on either Labor Day or Thanksgiving morning. Print out your race bib, pin it to your chest, and use #revwell5K to find others who are running too!

Q: When does this start?
This program doesn’t have a start date. You can jump in and start training whenever you’re ready!

Q: Are there podcasts to go along with the training runs/walks?
Yes! This program includes podcast episodes for all of your runs/walks. These podcasts are exclusive to the Couch to 5K program — they will not be available on our main podcast.

Q: Will there be guidance on when to walk/run?
Yes! Alisa will coach you through each training session when you listen to the podcasts.

Q: Will this benefit me if I’m already a runner?
Yes! There is value in training the basics. This program will help you with form & technique as you work on your short-distance running game with higher focus. We are never too good to revisit and train the basics, and our motives always need a good check!

Q: Can I do this as a walker?
Yes! Walk, run, or any combination — this is about running YOUR race and finishing well. We will train you to walk with purpose and challenge yourself.

Q: How many days per week is this program?
3-4 days/week of movement training. 2-3 days/week of rest & recovery training. Resting is just as important as working!

Q: How long is each session?
Anywhere from 12 to 30 minutes.

Q: Advice for people with bad knees? Running has always been hard on my body.
Proper shoes, proper form, proper breathing, and a mind at ease. We will train you in all of these areas!

Q: I’ve never had the ability to run. Something about the breathing is challenging. Any advice on that?
We will train you in this! The program includes videos on running form & technique, how to breathe, and proper nutrition.

Q: Will this help my faith journey?
Yes! All of the coaching you receive will train the whole you – body, mind & spirit. You’ll become more of the person you were created to be through Christ!

Q: Do I have to run a race on a certain day?
No. It’s not required to sign up for a specific race at the end of the program. However, we do encourage you to sign up for a local 5K race — a tangible goal will keep you motivated as you train. You can also join the Rev community for a virtual 5K on Labor Day or Thanksgiving.
