This month we focus on the theme, Better Together! Healthy and whole Christian community is God’s idea. We are better together because we were never meant to live this Christian journey alone.
Key Points
We honor those around us who help us love Him more, and to bear witness to the world that as Jesus-followers we really are better together.
We are better because of our relationships with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ of all races, ages, cultures, and nationalities.
We spread the love of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
We were made to worship God, serve Him, and be a light to this weary world as a community of believers.
Accountability, both in matters of health and matters of the heart, is fundamental in our walk with Christ.
We encourage and spur one another on in doing good.
We pray for one another and help our friends in need.
We love others with the love Jesus has given us.
Scripture
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7 (The Church is the the bride!)
“The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.” Revelation 21:24
“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” 1 Corinthians 1:10
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
“…so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:5
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
Quotes
“Today, Christianity is the largest and most diverse belief system in the world, representing the most even racial and cultural spread, with roughly equal numbers of self-identifying Christians living in Europe, North America, Latin America, and sub-Saharan Africa. Over 60 percent of Christians live in the Global South, and the center of gravity for Christianity in the coming decades will likely be increasingly non-Western.” ― Christianity Today, The Most Diverse Movement in History, Rebecca McGlaughlin, 14 October 2019.
“Christian community is like the Christian’s sanctification. It is a gift of God which we cannot claim. Only God knows the real state of our fellowship, of our sanctification.” ― Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together: The Classic Exploration of Christian Community
“Christian brotherhood is not an ideal which we must realize; it is rather a reality created by God in Christ in which we may participate.” ― Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together
“You and I need friends who, instead of trying to fix us, help us to fix our eyes more firmly on Jesus.” ― Jennie Allen, Find Your People: Building Deep Community in a Lonely World
“If you want to be effective, then ask for help. This makes other people feel needed, draws them together in a shared purpose. What’s more, by taking this simple but vulnerable step, we start to build the community we are longing for.” ― Jennie Allen, Find Your People: Building Deep Community in a Lonely World
