FIND YOUR PEOPLE.
LOVE YOUR PEOPLE.

This month, we mirror our Lord Jesus as we cultivate community defined by love, generosity, and kindness.

Key Points

We are created for community that is rooted in God.

As the Church, we are the body of Christ doing His will and work in the world.

We embrace community that is diverse because it mirrors the richness of God’s character.

We are not distracted by the things of this world, isolated by our phones and screens. Instead, the life we receive from Christ flows out from us to meet, encourage, and comfort the lonely people around us.

We cannot do the work of God alone.

We do not fill our lives with tasks to keep us busy, we have a generous schedule that makes room for loving others well.

We are not afraid to be vulnerable first. Our vulnerability invites others to be vulnerable.

We are curious about others before we cast judgement. Our speech is marked by gracious assumptions and peaceful curiosity.

Our love is not a one-for-one exchange, we do not expect people to repay us, but we love others with selfless generosity.

Scripture

“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:41-41

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” James 1:19

“When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.” Deuteronomy 24:19

“Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.’ …So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:18, 21-22

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:16

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” Ephesians 4:15-16

Quotes

Our freedom in the Christian community is the freedom to lay down our lives for my brothers and sisters. Our liberty as Christians is the liberty to die to our preferences, the liberty to die to our disordered desire for our pleasure.” – Irwyn Ince, The Call — and Cost — of Beautiful Church Community

“We are called to be a community of people, on a mission, delighting in God, delighting in each other, redeemed and reconciling the world, bringing them and inviting them into this family. This is the ultimate purpose of community.” – Jennie Allen, Find Your People

“Living in the world means seeking common ground with people and pursuits that are not always gospel-centered. For the adventurer, this is welcome news, because it allows us to ask different questions. What might God be doing in this situation? With what struggles can I empathize? What bridges can be built? Where might the kingdom of God be manifesting?” – Timothy J. Keller, Uncommon Ground: Living Faithfully in a World of Difference

“The person who loves their dream of community will destroy community, but the person who loves those around them will create community.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together: The Classic Exploration of Christian Community

Taking this starting assessment is a powerful first step on your journey toward growth and transformation. Think of it as a pin on a map—it shows you where you are right now in mind, body, and spirit. This tool is about awareness, not judgment. It doesn’t define you or your worth; it’s simply a way to understand your starting point so you can create a purposeful plan for where you want to go. Remember, you are a good body, beautifully made by God, exactly as you are today. This is about building on that foundation with love and intention.
